My sunflowers got really big this fall, so when I had a visit from another giant, my friend Mary, I put her alongside to give you a perspective. I really don't know how tall Mary is, but the sunflower was more than twice her size so I think that is pretty awesome.
Of course her daughter Ella wanted to help out measuring the big flower, but trying to fit flower, Mary and Ella in one frame proved too hard, so I cut the flowers head :-)
Beside the sunflower I had a small vegetable patch and to give you an idea of the magnificense of the soil I add a picture of one of the squash I found there. I could feed a small family for a month!! We got pretty sick of squash this summer :-)
